Personal Thoughts

I was raised in northeastern Louisiana. My father owned a scrap metal recycling company, known more commonly as a scrap yard. I’d often spend my summer breaks working at the scrap yard with him and taking part in many of his hobbies, one of which was following the stock market. While other kids were outside hunting, fishing, or playing football, I could be found hanging out with my dad and making visits to the local stock broker’s office. Over time, I started following the ticker symbols on the broker’s electronic ticker tape and learning which symbols were important to watch based on my dad’s recommendations.

My interest in companies and financial markets compelled me to pursue a degree in business management at Tulane University and I started investing on my own and researching and picking stocks shortly after college.

Having been around stocks my entire life, I have a strong understanding of their individual volatility and risk. I’ve experienced frightening moments like the 1987 crash, the tech bubble, and the Great Recession.

Investing, at its root, is much like marathoning. Discipline and patience are the key to reaching the finish line. At RCG, we only invest in low-cost mutual funds and ETFs with an investment philosophy that is academically derived. My desire is to bring my passion for investing and my disciplined approach to help my clients reach their financial goals.
