Here at Resource Consulting Group (RCG), we strive to give back and make an impact within the Central Florida community. Not only is each RCG associate encouraged to find a charity to support, but as a company, we are also proud to be involved with theVictory Cup Initiative (VCI), an organization that teaches nonprofit groups how to communicate their story in an impactful way.

Being able to resonate with an audience is critical to a nonprofit’s success, but many groups often struggle with explaining their mission. Since storytelling is an effective way to convey ideas and goals, VCI prioritizes helping nonprofit leaders take their public speaking and storytelling to the next level.

Each year VCI hosts a “shark tank” type breakfast event that allows 10 nonprofits in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties to share their story in front of a live audience. The audience then helps select the winner by voting for their favorite charity using their cell phones. This event brings awareness to hundreds of small and large nonprofits in Central Florida while also rewarding each group for their outstanding efforts.

RCG was the title sponsor for this event in 2022 and will again be the title sponsor in 2023. Our president and CEO, Gregg Biro, was one of the founding board members of VCI when the organization began in 2015. And, I have the privilege of currently serving on the VCI Board of Directors. Since VCI’s inception, the organization has given over $1 million to nonprofits in the Central Florida community.

If you’re looking for a way to support the local community through VCI, read on to see how it works and how you can get involved.

How to Apply

To be eligible for the 2023 Victory Cup Storytelling Showcase on March 2, 2023, nonprofits must apply during the open application period from October 3-21, 2022. If you know a nonprofit that might be interested, please direct them to the Victory Cup Initiative website at victorycupinitiative.org.

If the nonprofit is selected to be one of the 10 finalists by the community evaluators (see below), the nonprofit will then attend a storytelling workshop led by world-class storytelling experts to help it capture its mission and message within a two-minute time allotment.

Community Evaluators

Community evaluators review five to seven applications online during an evaluation period.  The evaluation process takes roughly two to three hours. The evaluators have been selected for this year. If you are interested in becoming a community evaluator in the future, please visit the VCI website for more details.

Support VCI

VCI’s primary goal is to raise funds that go directly to the nonprofit groups that participate in the storytelling program. To do this successfully, VCI runs on the generous donations of area entrepreneurs, foundations, philanthropists, and individuals. The Spark program, which was created in 2021 to cover the small overhead costs of the VCI, ensures that all funds VCI raises through sponsorships or tables go to the nonprofits. If you want to support the Spark program, you can donate or get involved with their corporate sponsorship program.

We have a remarkable nonprofit community in Central Florida, and this fantastic event is an opportunity to see that on full display. Resource Consulting Group is proud to partner with VCI, and we’re passionate about its mission.
