Stephen Mackall
Director of Operations
Steve joined Resource Consulting Group in August 2001. He is the director of operations. He is involved with the day-to-day management of clients’ accounts and portfolio rebalancing. He also ensures quality control within the client services department.
Before joining the firm, Steve was a licensed stockbroker with Charles Schwab & Co. He holds his Series 65 securities license and has a background in trading equities, mutual funds, options, and fixed income.
A native Floridian, Steve is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In his spare time, he enjoys biking, fishing, home renovation projects, and spending time with his family.
As a child, I was extremely fortunate to have an amazing father who taught me the benefits of discipline, planning, and hard work. He was the hardest-working man I’ve ever known who purposefully and masterfully balanced being a successful business and family man.
With the help of what I jokingly refer to as my excessive amounts of free child labor, we tackled some tough physical projects. As a child, I thought some of these undertakings were impossible and sometimes unnecessary. He was lucky they didn’t have cell phones and Uber back then! However, he was always right — we never quit, and we stuck to the plan, finished everything we started, and benefited greatly from it.
In retrospect, what I learned from working alongside him was that conquering long-term goals and challenges takes patience, sacrifice, planning, intestinal fortitude, and hard work. He would tell us regularly, “Anything worth doing takes effort” and “never go to bed without a plan for the next day because nothing happens without a plan” — quotes that have stuck with me.
I value those lessons and experiences greatly in my personal life and as an RCG employee. As a father with four teenagers in the house, I have many opportunities to remind myself that the trying, demanding, stressful, and chaotic days are worth the effort, planning, and patience for all involved. By taking a moment to envision the end goals our family has set forth (scholarships, no boomerang kids, a luxurious nursing home for Ole Dad), I’m able to push on to the next “opportunity” that challenges and pushes my family forward.
As an employee of 16 years, I have found that RCG’s financial planning and investment management philosophies are based on many of the same ideals I was raised on. We truly believe that discipline, planning, and hard work are the keys to a stable and successful financial future for our clients.
